- AirPods celebrate their seventh anniversary
- Apple’s wireless headphones are the best-selling in the world
- They were released on September 7, 2016 (for the first generation)
Remember: the September 7, 2016, Apple unveiled AirPods for the first time. We can therefore wish a happy seventh anniversary to wireless headphones. These quickly established themselves as world number one, far ahead of alternatives from Samsung or other brands. It must be said that the integration is ideal with iPhones, allowing the earbuds to be paired in just a few seconds.
During the September 12 keynote, Apple could unveil a new edition. However, we know little about its supposed technical sheet, except perhaps that it will be very similar to the previous model. These are the third generation AirPods, available from 209 euros in the Apple Store and only in their white color. Faced with this duo, Google’s Pixel Buds are also very popular in Europe and across the Atlantic.
There is something for every taste
Beyond the classic model that we have just mentioned, Apple, over time, has been able to expand its range with two other collections of AirPods. First of all, the AirPods Pro, equipped with silicone tips for better support in the ears. These are also the manufacturer’s only earbuds offering active noise reduction functionality.
With this, at Apple, we can also afford the wireless headset AirPods Max. Pairing via Bluetooth, it also has active noise reduction but its price easily exceeds 600 euros. Much more affordable, the “classic” second generation AirPods are available for 159 euros in the Apple Store.
The Apple Watch too
With wireless headphones, it is also the connected watch sector that Apple now dominates. A new version of its flagship wearable should also see the light of day during the keynote on September 12, where the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro would also be announced.
The Apple Watch Series 9 is said to be very similar to the previous model, but with a faster processor under the hood. The operating system, for its part, has already been presented with great fanfare during the last Worldwide Developer Conference. The event was held in June in Cupertino, and was also an opportunity to discover the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
