To further increase performance, especially in multitasking and reopening apps, Apple could equip the iPhone 15 Pro (here is everything you need to know) of 8GB of RAM, a significant increase compared to the 6GB of RAM of the iPhone 14 Pro.
The configurations tested internally by Apple are reported by MacRumors which does not further specify the sources, which are however considered reliable. Instead, as regards storage space, it is expected that Apple will continue to offer the same current capacities, therefore with four choices:
The anticipation of increases with maximum storage capacity of up to 2TB fades. Apple could offer 8GB of RAM in models with more storage, as has already been the case for some time in iPads, models with top storage are equipped with more RAM.
Apple could do the same with the iPhone 15 Pro, offering 8GB of RAM for example with the 512GB and 1TB models, but at the moment deals with of speculation. Not only previews but also analyst forecasts have been circulating since 2022, such as TrendForcewhich indicate 8GB of RAM for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, perhaps even for all models, including the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Apple could also choose 8GB of RAM to make the most of the new Apple A17 processor built with TSMC’s 3-nanometer process. But Apple’s hardware and software optimization has always allowed it to implement less RAM while still offering top performance: Apple could choose to stay at 6GB of RAM. Whatever Cupertino’s choice, which will be discovered in a few hours, it will be low-power LPDDR5 DRAM memory, the same technology in the iPhone 14 Pro.
The names of various memory manufacturers also emerge from the list of tested models. For storage and NAND chips: SK Hynix, Western Digital, Kioxia and Samsung. Instead for RAM memories: Samsung, Micron and SK Hynix.
Here are the five new features of the iPhone 15 Pro that change everything, instead for everything you need to know about the upcoming top models we refer you to this in-depth analysis.
