Do you also have one in your wallet? This 2 euro coin is worth up to 2,500 euros
From: Peter Zimmerman
A certain 2 euro coin is worth 2,500 euros to collectors. You can find out exactly what this is here.
There is a new coveted collector’s item among coin collectors. It is a two-euro coin with an embossing of Cologne Cathedral. These special coins of this type are rare and therefore highly sought after. The whole thing goes so far that this special coinage from Cologne is now being offered for more than 1,000 times as much.
In Germany, the coin in question was issued 30 million times in 2011. Some of these coins could still be in circulation, but there is a special feature in the increase in value. The coins with so-called incorrect mintings will now and in the next few years increase their original value.
Special embossing with errors – that’s what makes them so special
The coin features the Cologne Cathedral in its original form as a golden motif and is surrounded by twelve stars and the year “2011” at the bottom. Improper embossing occurs if, among other things, the motif in the middle is not circular or if there are noticeable scratches during the embossing. These two-euro coins are being traded on “eBay” for 2,500 euros, reports “t online“.
Over the next few years, owners of the coin from 2011 can look forward to an increase in value. According to the Ministry of Finance, two-euro special coins are to be launched again. However, there will be no special item for North Rhine-Westphalia for the time being. This isn’t due until 2027 – and could also become a collector’s item.
