The car market in Germany continues to decline. This currently applies especially to electric cars. But some brands and models perform significantly better than others when it comes to sales figures. In our ranking we show you the ten most popular car brands in September 2024 – according to new registrations.

This corresponds to a decrease of 7.0 percent compared to the same month last year. 34,479 new registrations were electric cars (BEVs) – with a share of 12.9 percent. Compared to the same month last year, this corresponds to a decline of 8.7 percent.
The most popular car brands in September 2024
Hybrid vehicles had the largest share of new registrations in September 2024 at 36.1 percent (75,433). Gasoline engines are in second place with 32.1 percent (67,009). Only then do diesel-powered cars follow with 14.9 percent (31,115). The decline in new registrations of electric cars is likely to be primarily due to the purchase premiums being canceled by the federal government.

Hyundai lands in ninth place in the ranking of the most popular car brands in September 2024. The South Korean car manufacturer was founded in 1967. In September were 6,433 vehicles of the brand were newly registered. Market share: 3.1 percent.
