Apple confirms iOS 18.1 launch next week

iOS 18.1 will ship next week. Apple did not want to give a specific date, but the manufacturer is already promoting the new hearing aid functions for the AirPods Pro 2 which will be included in the next update.

During next week, Apple will provide the final version ofiOS 18.1the first big update to iOS 18 since its launch on September 16. The manufacturer did not specify the exact date, but delivery could take place October 28, next Monday.

AirPods Pro become hearing aid devices

Apple revealed the firing window during a preview at US press new hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2. Announced during last September’s keynote, they will transform headphones into medical-level hearing aid devices – the functionality received the green light from the FDA, the American agency in charge of regulation medical devices.

iOS 18.1 notably includes a scientifically validated hearing test, to be carried out at home, which creates a personalized hearing profile. These dynamic adjustments increase the volume of ambient sounds in real time. All of this allows the user to fully participate in conversations. A crucial point will remain: the social acceptance of wearing headphones when speaking with someone! Very often, convenience means that we naturally remove our headphones.

iOS 18.1 also contains the first burst of Apple Intelligence functions… but not in the European Union, which will have to wait until 2025 to benefit from them.
