Commandos: Origins: Playable demo with the Green Beret and the Marine

The time-honored tactical game series Commandos will be continued this year. The exact date for Commandos: Origins has not yet been officially set, but the title can already be tried out in the form of a demo.

The Download the demo comprises around 24.5 GB and contains, according to the developers, “special test mission“, which was created specifically for the demo.

The map is titled “Operation Prelude” and allows you to control two of the later six protagonists: Green Beret and Marine. They go on a mission to the Channel Islands to sabotage a German radar system that has caused heavy losses to the Royal Air Force. Small explanatory videos show how to proceed discreetly using a deflection transmitter or a throwing knife.

Kalypso Media points out that the demo version “does not represent the final game“. Historical symbols are not yet included and should only be activated in the game with the full version. The demo has an age rating of 18 years and over.

Full version with 6 characters and co-op mode

It is still not clear when exactly Commandos: Origins will appear in its finished form. The speech on the homepage is only from “2024” and that applies to both the PC version (Steam and Epic) and the versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. A Google snippet at least reveals the planned price of 44.99 euros for the PC version.

In addition to Jack O’Hara, the “Green Beret”, and James Blackwood, the “Marine”, the full version includes the infamous elite fighters Thomas “the Pioneer” Hancock, Francis T. “the Sniper” Woolridge and Samuel “the Driver” Brooklyn and Rene “the Spy” Duchamp on Player. 14 missions with World War II locations and a 2-player co-op mode are planned.

Kalypso Media, based in Worms, had, among other things, in the summer of 2018 the rights to the Commandos series acquired by Pyro Studios from Spain as the original developers. At the end of 2019 working on a new Commandos announced publicly for the first time.

The official announcement of Commandos: Origins happened just a year ago. There was one in the spring View of the variety of cards and at Gamescom Gameplay presented for the first time.
