It has now been several days since Tim Cook’s stay in China has come to an end. We had already mentioned the fact that each of his public appearances was a well-crafted communication operation, and this is all the more true with regard to one of his visits to the country, that of the factory Luxshare Precision. As said in a previous article, it is she who is responsible for manufacturing Apple’s most advanced devices. In particular, it assembles the new range of carbon-neutral Apple Watches, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
But how can this company which, initially, was not that a small manufacturer of iPad cableshas it come to be one of the main players in Apple’s production chain?
Former assembly line worker, now she’s the boss
Wang Laichun, aka Grace Wang, was not originally intended to end up at the head of one of the most important subcontractors for Apple. And for good reason, she started working at Foxconn in 1988, in the Shenzhen factory. The woman was at the time in charge of the manual design of printed circuits on the assembly line.
After spending many years in the company, and after being promoted to team leader, Wang decided to start his own factory in 1998, accompanied by her brother. So this is where it was born Luxshare Precision.
From the electrical cord to the iPhone 15 Pro Max
It is probable that the second part of its name “ precision » didn’t arrive until later. The company initially only produced electrical cords and television boxes. It was only a few years later that Grace Wang and her brother joined forces with Apple. At the beginning of this partnership, the company manufactured iPad cablesthen the partnership expanded to camera modulesthen to AirPods in 2016.
In 20 years of collaboration, the subcontractor has earned the absolute trust of the Apple firm, which now entrusts it with the design of its most high-end devices, including iPhone 15 Pro Max.
