Google Maps no longer necessary: Important function comes directly into the Android system
From: Sebastian Feuerer
Change for Android users: In the future, a function can no longer be activated in Google Maps but in the device settings.
Google plans to integrate location sharing directly into Android settings. Android Headlines reports that in the future users will be able to view their position without Google Maps can share. A new menu in the settings should contain the “Google Location Sharing” function.
How “Android headlines” reports, the new setting allows users to copy a public link to their live location. Anyone who receives this link can see the device’s location. The feature also lists the people with whom the location has been shared.
Known from Google Maps: Function is tested directly in Android settings
“Android Headlines” adds that a notification will alert users when their location is shared. This leads to a page where you can manage the shares. Google is currently testing the feature and will probably roll it out gradually to ensure user security and privacy.
Google recently rolled out three new features for Maps. Read how navigation should now be even easier here.
