Paradox games are known for their numerous expansions, but also for years of developing new content. Eight years after the release of Hearts of Iron IV, the first season pass is available. In addition to the “Twilight of the Gods” expansion, this will deliver two additional pieces of game content until the third quarter of 2025.
Götterdämmerung plays the opening
With the upcoming Götterdämmerung expansion, Paradox Interactive is focusing on Germany, but also its neighbors Austria, Hungary and Belgium. Germany will receive a new, large focus tree for national priorities and alternative histories. These give players the opportunity to lead the empire on a monarchist, democratic or alternative-historical path. For Austria, Hungary and Belgium there are revisions such as a path for Austria without Germany, but also the possibility of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. For Belgium, the Congo, which is rich in raw materials, is a particular focus.
New game mechanics with research in mind
Research in the game is undergoing an overhaul: In Special projects Research can now be carried out on atomic physics, advanced aircraft and rockets, modern tanks and artillery, as well as shipbuilding technology and electronics. To support this, research facilities can be built and scientists can be hired.
Raids allow players to specifically eliminate important targets through prior planning. Ports, industrial and research facilities, but also resources become possible targets for bombing, raids or paratroopers.
The AI itself has been revised with Götterdämmerung and is intended to plan attacks better, and in particular nuclear warfare should be given more importance. New buildings and structures also become visible on the world map.
The Twilight of the Gods expansion will be released on November 14th.
Season Pass with immediate content unlock
The season pass itself will consist of three pieces of content. The first part is the Götterdämmerung expansion. In addition, a country pack will follow in the first quarter of 2025 and a unit pack in the third quarter.
For season pass buyers this will be the case Supporter Pack unlocked, which includes three special models for German units: the Selbstfahrlafette II, the medium tank VK.3001 and the prototype of a heavy tank in the shape of the lion. Players receive musical accompaniment Ride of the Valkyries Pieces of music by the composer Martin Hall.
The Country Pack Graveyard of Empires focuses on Asian countries and introduces new focus trees, including for India, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. The unit pack Prototype Vehicles will bring in rare and common World War II-era vehicles
