Someone in Russia has managed to get their hands on the new M4 MacBook Pro before it Apple officially present it. A Russian YouTuber named Wylsacom—who has a whopping 11.4 million users— has posted a video unboxing the laptop, letting everyone take a look at what’s to come.
The video shows the box of the new MacBook Pro, which has the same wallpaper as the M3 models. But the interesting thing is inside.
According to the box, this MacBook Pro It comes with the M4 chip, which has 10 cores on both the CPU and GPU. It also comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. And it looks like it will now have three Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of two.
But it doesn’t stop there and the YouTuber did a performance test with Geekbench, and the results are impressive. The M4 scored 3,864 points in single-core tests and 15,288 in multi-core tests. To give you an idea, the M3 is usually around 3,000 and 11,800 points respectively.
The MacBook Pro M4 not only doubles the RAM on the base model, but also offers an extra Thunderbolt 4 port
To comment on something quite positive is that this leak coincides with what journalist Mark Gurman had anticipated: that all Macs with M4 would come with 16 GB of RAM as standard, leaving aside the 8 GB that it offered in its base models.
Of course, there is no doubt that this leak is somewhat strange. Is it an oversight or has someone in the chain decided to break the rules? At the moment everything is a mystery.
Now, as always happens with Apple and leaks or rumors, you have to take all this with a grain of salt. Although the video looks real, you can’t be 100% sure until Apple confirms it. What is known is that The company plans to announce its first Macs with M4 later this month, with a possible launch on November 1.
