From the revelation of the electric replacement of a star of the 60s at Renault to a Dacia Duster automobile of Paris 2024 will be rather busy. Here are the 10 new products not to be missed.
Will we remember the year 2022 as the tipping point for the Paris World Cup? After an event particularly deserted by brands two years ago, the motor show returns in 2024 (from October 14 to 20) with more new features, enough to give yourself a good reason to take a ticket and go and walk the aisles of the Parc des Expositions at the Porte de Versailles.
To understand it, 10 new features from the 2024 Paris World Cup will be particularly interesting to see, especially since these will not be concept cars but rather production models, soon on our roads. French brands will respond well, as will the Chinese, with BYD, Xpeng and Leapmotor at the head of the line. Ford, Mini, Skoda and Kia won’t come empty-handed either. Here is a small overview of these new features.
1/ Renault R4 E-Tech: the revelation of the new 4L
We start with a French novelty, which has still not lifted the veil on its bodywork despite numerous teaser. The R4 E-Tech will be unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, in the foreground of the Renault stand (yet well loaded). Alongside of the R5 which will launch its marketing, the Diamond brand will present the one which will replace the icon of the 60s to 80s, starting next year.
Several details, such as its grille and taillights, have already been revealed. We also know that the city car will measure 4.14 m long, slightly more than the R5 E-Tech and its 3.92 m, enough to offer superior habitability and a trunk with “a low loading threshold”, says the manufacturer on its site. Please note that the car will be available to discover in hall 6, and that a pre-reservation system will also be available so as not to wait for the opening day of registration for order forms for the electric car.
2/ Alpine A290: first crowd bath in Paris
We remain on the side of the Renault group with the Alpine brand, which will offer the first crowd bath in its A290, the sporty version of the R5 E-Tech. It should be released at the end of the year, with a real range consisting of two different power levels: 180 and 220 hp. With its historic blue color, dear to the brand and which draws its inspiration from the legendary A110, Alpine will offer a small bomb with a range of 360 to 380 kilometers, depending on the power level. At the purchase price of 38,700 euros in GT version, it will be eligible for the ecological bonus.
3/ Dacia Bigster: an XXL Duster, but not 7 seats
After the concept in 2021, Dacia presents the Bigster, or the big brother of Third generation Duster. We regret that the low cost brand has completely abandoned the idea of offering the model in a 7-seater configuration (certainly a GVWR problem with a segment B platform). Now, it will be a question of discovering the improved habitability of the model at the Paris Motor Show. To get seven seats in a Dacia, you will always have to turn to the Jogger.
4/ Mini Aceman: only available in electric
To complete its new electric range, Mini presents the Aceman, which is positioned as an intermediate model between a Classic Cooper and one Countryman (4.07 m compared to 4.03 m for the Cooper and 4.44 m for the Countryman). It takes the style, and will arrive at the entry-level price of 36,000 euros. Particularly narrow, it measures only 1.75 m in width, and plays on the interior lighting to rethink the design of the brand in 2024. Initially, the car must be manufactured in China, before being repatriated to Europe.
5/ Kia EV3: goodbye to the Niro
As for the South Korean firm Kia, we will have to look into the new EV3. In response to the Renault Scénic E-Tech, this compact SUV arrives at a price of 35,000 euros with an attractive range on paper: 600 km. It is also a model that will replace the Niro, which the brand offered 10,000 euros more expensive. On the stand, it will be interesting to discover its original design, particularly optimized for aerodynamics (despite the SUV silhouette) and which is part of Kia’s new DNA.
6/ Skoda Elroq: a second Czech electric model
Kia will not be alone in wanting to promote an electric SUV for less than 40,000 euros in Paris. At Skoda, the Enyaq will welcome a second model in the 100% electric range, and it is the new Elroq. With it, visitors to the 2024 Paris World Cup will be able to familiarize themselves with the new style “modern solid” from Skoda, for future years. Later, in 2026, the Czech manufacturer aims to launch an electric car for less than 25,000 euros.
7/ Leapmotor: the T03 which is panicking France will be presented
To see electric cars for less than 25,000 eurosdirection Leapmotor. The Chinese brand will be at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, thanks to its distribution in Europe with the Stellantis group. The one that recently lowered its price, the T03, will be at the show to dethrone the Dacia Spring’s place among the cheapest electric cars. Available from 18,900 euros thanks to an introductory offer.
This Leapmotor T03 could even drop to 14,900 euros if Stellantis manages to repatriate the assembly of the car to Poland (rather than to China), enough to allow it to access the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. While waiting to know the verdict of this sleight of hand, Leapmotor will also present its B10 (competitor to the Renault Scénic) and the C10.
8/ BYD Sea Lion 07: a new SUV on a 500 m2 stand
The current reference for Chinese brands, BYD, is doing things in a big way this year at the Paris Motor Show: a stand of more than 500 m2, just for it. By taking the technical base of the BYD Seal, the brand will unveil the lines of a new rather slender SUV, to hunt in the lands of the Tesla Model Y and the Peugeot e-5008. In China, the car has already been launched, under the name Sea Lion 07, with a recorded range of over 600 km.
9/ Audi Q6 e-tron: the cousin of the Porsche Macan
With a very good appreciation from the automotive press, and using the same architecture as the 100% electric Porsche Macan, Audi will be at the 2024 Paris World Cup with the Q6 e-tron. To do things in a big way, like BYD, its stand will be impressive with the entire range installed on an area of 600 m2. This new Q6 e-tron will be placed between the Q4 and the Q8, with the particularly solid PPE technical base thanks to the 800 volt architecture and a 94.9 kWh capacity battery.
10/ Xpeng G6: the new Tesla Model Y?
Finally, there will be Xpeng, another Chinese manufacturer, coming to Paris to present its competitor to the Tesla Model Y: the G6. An important novelty at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, especially since its style will be intriguing. Audi, with its Q6 e-tron, is also under attack since the Chinese SUV is targeting more attractive prices, between 42,990 and 50,990 euros, and high performance, with an engine with a power of up to 513 hp. For autonomy, count up to 570 kilometers.
