In the educational journey of young people in our country, for many years the focus has been on having to do a university degree no matter what. “to be someone in this life.” This caused Vocational Training to be relegated to the background, not being attractive at allsince it seemed that those people who had no desire to study ended up here.
But with the passage of time this feeling has changed (although still with some minds stuck in the past) to give greater importance to Vocational Training. The fact of needing more and more technical personnel and having a society fundamentally formed in the university, It has created a big problem.
Spain needs more technicians and fewer university students
In this way, more and more resources are allocated to vocational training institutes and to be able to reinforce the amount of practices that are done in these courses. Something crucial to be able to cover another big problem in our system such as imperative need to have experience in the workplace which you are going to want to aspire to.
In this way, more and more people are seeing how completing a university degree does not guarantee having a job (especially in some specific branches) and vocational training opens more doors to professions in different sectors. And there are FP in a large number of disciplines such as in the field of health, mechanics, beauty, programming or hospitality and gastronomy.
Given this situation, it can be relatively easy to find a topic that a young person who is thinking about how to train in their next educational stage may like. One of the great reinforcements that can exist is the percentage of job placement that each of the different vocational training disciplines achieves. That is, the number of graduates who begin to work in a position that is related to what they have studied.
Classically, it has always been seen that the health sector is one of the sectors that can have the greatest insertion in the world of work. Something that has been true especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, but in reality the figures are really diverse between the different branches of knowledge.
The FP data that comes from the Ministry
The Ministry of Education itself has a portal full of completely reliable statistics on what happens with students who graduate in vocational training. This is something that allows us to leave aside the surveys to see real and official data from the ministry itself in order to understand which sectors have a higher hiring rate.
To get an idea, in the following table we are going to collect membership percentages of graduates in the 2020-2021 academic year with their affiliation in the first and second years after obtaining the degree in the different academic disciplines.

As can be seen in the marked data, there are several degrees that far exceed the insertion that the classic ‘Health’ can have. Always keeping in mind that We talk about data from the 2020-2021 academic year and the following two years in terms of insertion. That is, part of the pandemic was captured.
The extractive industries take the cake when it comes to insertion, with a good part of graduates working two years after obtaining accreditation. And in the event that we Let’s go to Higher Level vocational training The data is as follows:

Here again we see how professional training in the field of health is not the queen by any means. Other branches such as vehicle maintenance, chemistry, maintenance, IT or manual manufacturing work take the cake. And many with a 70% insertion after two years of ownership.
These tables, which we insist, are taken from the Ministry of Education itself, can shed great light on what may be better to study if the objective is to access the labor market. And as you can see, you can debunk one of the great myths that existed and that are heard in many places where they claim that studying something related to health is associated with guaranteed work. It is not always like this.
