A Mini PC of the unusual variety is looking for supporters on Kickstarter. When unfolded, it takes the shape of a keyboard. Inside is PC technology based on AMD Hawk Point in the form of the Ryzen 7 8840U “Hawk Point”.
The idea behind the Mini-PC Lunar is a portable mini-PC that comes with a keyboard. When folded, the device measures 15.5 cm × 11 cm × 3 cm (L × W × H), when unfolded it creates a keyboard measuring 29 cm × 11 cm × 1.5 cm (L × W × H), which also has a small Touchpad like on a notebook. Thanks to the integrated battery, WLAN and Bluetooth, the mini PC can be operated wirelessly. The weight is 800 grams.
Inside is not the latest notebook technology from AMD in the form of the Ryzen 7 8840U, an 8-core processor with up to 5.1 GHz and integrated Radeon 780M with a normal 28 watt TDP. This is supported by 16 GB or 32 GB LPDDR5X. Although there is now a “successor” in Strix Point, AMD has priced the two versions of this series that were previously available above the Hawk Point versions.
An M.2 SSD with PCIe 4.0 and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage volume serves as mass storage. The connections are USB4 with connector type C, USB3.2 with connector type C and USB 3.0 with connector type A.
With light workloads in everyday office life, the 59.2 watt-hour battery should provide a runtime of 8 to 10 hours. The keyboard has scissor switches with 1.2 mm travel. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are the supported wireless standards. TDP and fan speed can be individually adjusted via software.

The Kickstarter campaign for crowd funding of the Lunar Mini PC recently started, of which 400 units were previously produced and shipped for beta testers. Global availability should be available in January 2025. Supporters who are willing to take risks can get the mini PC with a pre-order discount. Regular prices are the equivalent of $699 for the version with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD and $849 for 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
