We indicated in one of our articles how to clear recent search history in Google Maps, those displayed as soon as you tap on the search field to start a new search. If for various reasons you don’t want Google to take these searches into account, from the Google Maps app you can select the Incognito modean isolated operating mode, like private browsing on Safari, which does not allow websites and various services to monitor browsing between various sessions.
Here’s how to proceed:
1) Open Google Maps on your phone
2) Tap on your profile icon (top right)
3) Select “Turn on incognito mode”
4) A window appears indicating that this mode has been activated; select “Close”.
Google explains that when incognito mode is turned on, your device won’t save your browsing or search history to your account, won’t update your location history or shared location, and won’t take your ongoing activity into account to personalize Maps.
Google further explains that incognito mode in Maps does not affect how your activities are used or saved by internet providers, other apps, voice search or other Google services.
To deactivate Incognito mode, just tap on the icon at the top right (where your profile icon normally appears) and select the “Deactivate incognito mode” option.
