If you want to invest in an electric scooter, capable of carrying out your daily journeys, one of its two models could well please you. Between Ninebot’s expertise and Xiaomi’s value for money, what should you choose? We will try to answer it in this comparison.
Following a citizen vote last April, self-service electric scooters leave the streets of Paris. It is therefore no longer possible to rent a two-wheeler from Lime, Dott or other companies, but nothing prevents you from taking your personal scooter to ride in the capital. And if you don’t have one, this article could help you in your choice. It is difficult to choose as there are so many references on the market, turning to one of the two models presented in this article seems to be a good deal. The Ninebot Kickscooter F2E and the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 are two simple and pleasant scooters to use on a daily basis, but which of the two should you choose? We will try to help you make your choice through this comparison by detailing each of the qualities and disadvantages of the two products.

Machines that look good
Aesthetically, the Ninebot Kickscooter F2E has nothing to envy of the Xiaomi Electric 4 and vice versa. The two electric scooters have a very refined look, quality finishes, where the cables are discreet. We even find orange tones on Ninebot-Segway and touches of red on the other model. More practical to transport thanks to their folding system, the one designed by Xiaomi is lighter, at 15.2 kg, it takes the advantage over its competition, which weighs 17.5 kg. So yes, the Kickscooter is not one of the lightest in its category, it can be transported quite easily to your home or office, but avoid carrying it during a long journey.
Both models are solid and robust, the Xiaomi one is capable of supporting a load of 110 kg, and the other 120 kg. Whether with one or the other, you will even be able to ride in the rain. A good thing, moreover, during our test, the two devices showed no signs of weakness and even proved to be particularly stable and reassuring.
Driving comfort and speed
In terms of comfort, there is a real effort on the Electric Scooter 4 which goes to 8.5 inch tires (on the old model), to 10 inch air tires. This change provides better comfort on the roads, it handles small holes or slightly degraded roads, but once on the cobblestones, you will strongly feel the jolts. The Kickcooter F2E also has 10-inch tires, but in the absence of shock absorbers, the user will feel all the roughness of the road. Roads in poor condition should be avoided. The deck also plays an important role in comfort, and the two manufacturers were keen to offer a sufficiently spacious surface to allow the user to place their feet in parallel.
In terms of power, the Ninebot scooter is equipped with a motor with a nominal power of 400 watts and up to 800 watts maximum. Of course, you can’t go beyond 25 km/h, but the acceleration is very powerful and the scooter is very responsive. It’s not afraid of hills, or at least it’s capable of climbing angles of up to 18%. The Xiaomi scooter incorporates a slower 300 W motor with a maximum power of 600 W. Acceleration remains satisfactory, with good momentum to quickly reach 25 km/h. According to the brand, the machine can climb slopes of 16%, but on the ground, as soon as a small slope appears, the speed drops to 20 km/h, or even less. Its competitor, for its part, manages to drive at 25 km/h most of the time, even on fairly steep hills, and without effort. Another point to note is that the braking lacks bite on the Electric Scooter 4. You will therefore have to anticipate and ride calmly.
Features
On each of them, we are entitled to three available driving modes: eco, standard and sport which are accessible via the LCD screen on the handlebars, and can be changed even in the middle of a race. You can also consult the speed, driving modes and battery status. On the Ninebot, there is a color screen, but it remains unreadable in broad daylight, the same for Xiaomi’s. Small advantage for the Kickscooter F2E: it also displays a direction indicator. It is equipped with indicators, and the controls are located on the handlebars. They activate easily and are very practical to use on a daily basis. A function that the Electric Scooter 4 does not have.
Concerning the applications, the one from Xiaomi (Mi Home) is pleasant, offering some possible settings and additional information, but it does not have a geolocation or GPS system. At Segway, the application also works very well, but the smartphone screen does not stay on in dashboard mode and the data part linked to the journeys still requires some small improvements. These defects remain minor and Ninebot makes up for it with the integration of‘Apple Find My. Thanks to this, people with an Apple device can geotag the scooter at any time. It is even possible to make a sound to find it more easily.
More generous autonomy on the Ninebot, but…
Autonomy is often the annoying point about this type of product, and for good reason: Ninebot ensures an autonomy of 40 km on its machine, while in our case, we are more around 25 km. The figure announced by the brand was obtained from specific conditions, namely weighing 75 kilos, driving at 16 km/h on average and under 25 degrees Celsius. To be more precise, we were able to travel 27 km before the battery ran out using full acceleration and the sport mode which is the most dynamic. Autonomy is bound to change depending on your driving. This remains a good average to last during your daily commute to work, for example. For the charger, if it is quite compact and easy to transport, you will have to be patient with the charging time. Allow more than 6 hours to recharge the battery.
On Xiaomi’s side, the manufacturer promises a range of 35 km, less than its competitor Ninebot. And as always, these official distances are theoretical, and are achievable at 15 km/h on flat terrain with a load of 70 kg. This data actually surprised us quite a bit during our test, since it is more than the 30 km of the Electric Scooter 3, which has an identical battery… In reality, the Electric Scooter 4 lasts 20 km in sustained use (with slopes and frequent stops) and can reach 25 km with more flat terrain and driving at an average of 20 km/h (stops included). It is therefore approximately 5 to 7 km less than the Segway F2 E, but everything will depend on your travel times and your driving. Recharging is nevertheless faster, since it “only” needs 4 hours to be recharged.
Ninebot or Xiaomi? We take stock
After having detailed the qualities and defects of two electric wheels, it is time to take stock to help you in your choice.
For lightness and compactness, Xiaomi wins the point. With the Scooter 4 you will have less difficulty taking it with you, whether in the stairwell of your building, or on public transport. Its engine is certainly less powerful, it quickly reaches the maximum authorized speed. And if there are few hills on your route, it is ideal. Finally, in terms of autonomy, it covers fewer KM than its rival: between 20 and 25 km. It can handle your daily journeys very well, especially since it takes less time to refuel.
By choosing the KickScooter F2E, you will have a powerful scooter that provides its user with exhilarating sensations when accelerating and recovering. It is also safe, comfortable and easy to handle, even in the rain. Little extra, at the handlebar level, Ninebot has equipped its scooter with indicators. The manufacturer goes even further, and offers Apple’s Find My application, an undeniable advantage for all those equipped with Apple devices. As for the autonomy, it is not as advertised, but putting everything to the maximum, we drove for more than 25 km, which is comfortable for daily use on urban journeys. On the other hand, charging is very slow, 6 hours compared to 4 for the Scooter 4.
It is therefore our recommendation.
